Both venues are old country houses, set in beautiful grounds, with comfortable accommodation and excellent food. The atmosphere is very informal and relaxing, and a lot of fun is had by all. Nobody should feel apprehensive about applying for a place on these courses - everybody is pretty much in the same position, musically, and as long as you are familiar with common chord progressions, and have the ability to accurately whistle, hum, or sing a tune (not necessarily in public!), it is a pleasant, communal way of learning a great deal. No music-reading ability is required. Acoustic guitars (but not 12-strings) are most suitable. However, electric guitars with small amps are also welcome. A notepad will be useful, although blank chord window sheets, plus other materials will be provided. Come on – don’t be shy, give it a try! These courses are guaranteed to boost your confidence and improve your playing and knowledge.
